Joint Brazilian – ELECTRA Smart Grids Workshop
November 11-12, 2015 Florianópolis, Brazil
An important objective of ELECTRA is to establish the bases for International Cooperation activities with extra-EU countries in the field of Smart Grids. Special attention is devoted to promote the involvement of emerging economies, namely B.R.I.C.S. countries.
In this frame the joint Brazilian-ELECTRA Smart Grids Workshop has been organized in cooperation with INESC P&D Brazil and Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). The workshop (see the programme) will give the opportunity to present ELECTRA IRP results both to Academia and industry representatives. In turn, presentations dealing with on-going smart grids Brazilian projects and future trends will help in identify topics of interest for potential joint R&D activities.

2nd ELECTRA / WG1 ETP SmartGrids Joint Technical Workshop: The Web of Cells and alternative Concepts - New Architectures for the Grid of the Future
10 Dec, Brussels. Together with the ELECTRA IRP, WG1 of the ETP SmartGrids organizes its 2nd Technical Workshop on 10th December 2015 in Brussels, focusing on the Web of Cells concept as well as alternative operational concepts for the grid of the future. The event will bring together around 50 Smart Grids experts and aims to highlight the options that new technologies offer and the challenges for a flexible grid, capable of efficiently and optimally linking the sustainable sources of energy of 2035 and beyond. Enough time will be dedicated to open discussion for challenging the proposed solutions, aiming to reach consensus on the most promising concept for building the future grid.

EERA JP SG is growing in importance and is gathering more and more participants: it currently includes 20 Full Participants and 19 Associates representing 17 different European countries. In order to cover all the collaboration and communication needs among all members, a General Assembly (GA) will be held on an annual basis.
The main purposes of the GA are to increase visibility and networking opportunity for all JP SG members, also reporting of annual activities (technical and financial) and putting the basis for new joint activities and collaborative projects.
The 1st GA will give particular emphasis on relationships with EC and European industrial grid stakeholders and on technical topics, to be discussed in roundtables and specific panels (see the programme).
