Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) is the public agency in charge of promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with the national targets of economic development and technical progress. Marmara Research Centre (TUBITAK MAM) is the oldest research organization under TUBITAK. The aim of TUBITAK MAM is to conduct applied and fundamental research projects integrated with national and international industrial entities in a customer focused policy. There exist seven institutes under the frame of TUBITAK MAM and Energy Institute is one of them.
The Energy Institute (EI) is located in the industrial town of Gebze-Kocaeli near Istanbul and Ankara, and conducts applied research on advanced and innovative energy and transportation technologies. It aims to form a bridge between fundamental research and industrial applications. EI has active research teams on fuel technologies, gas technologies, combustion, fuel cell technologies and solar energy, power grid technologies, power electronics, vehicle and battery technologies and wind power. The EI employs of 240+ researchers, technicians and staff. Institute has grown out in recent years and gained significant expertise on design, integration, demonstration and testing of energy systems and sub systems.
TUBITAK's Role in ELECTRA IRP: TUBITAK takes role as a project member in WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP10, WP12 in total 37 man/mounth. The knowledge, experience, technical background based on the national and international projects, and infrastructure of the TUBITAK MRC Energy Institute will be used during implementation of ELECTRA IRP Project.
