An ELECTRA IRP - ETP Working Group 1 “Network operation and assets” Joint Workshop was organised at Van Maerlant Building (VMA) in Brussels on 17th December. The Workshop, entitled “Network Operation for 2030+”, was subdivided into three sections and gave an insight on the latest research activities on “Inertia and grid stability with high penetration of DG and storage”, “Operational flexibility and ancillary services” and “Observability and system integration”.
The workshop material is publicly available and can be found here.
A side event named “ELECTRA IRP/EERA Smart Grids Workshop and the Aim towards International Cooperation” was organised at the international conference IRED2014 on integration of renewables and distributed energy resources on 17th November. The workshop gives participants the opportunity to hear about the latest results emerging from the EERA JP on Smart Grids and ELECTRA IRP research programmes, discuss concepts key to the emergence of radical integrative voltage and frequency control solutions, and attend the global launch of the ELECTRA Researcher Exchange Programme.

The Exchange Programme Management Committee of the ELECTRA IRP is pleased to announce the first call for applications for Researcher Exchanges between ELECTRA Partners, and between ELECTRA Partners and International organisations. The call is open to researchers of all organisations and aims at training researchers, establishing a deeper culture of awareness and cooperation amongst European smart grids researchers as well as strengthening research understanding in smart grid controls between international partners.

The EERA Joint Programme on Smart Grids Steering Committee (SC) brought back together for the periodic meeting organised on 7th and 8th October at OFFIS premises in Oldenburg, Germany. The event constituted the opportunity to organise a dedicated ELECTRA IRP session with all the project partners. The ELECTRA IRP partners attended this session updating the SC members and the EC Project Officer about the latest results. After almost one year from the project start, the first reports and deliverables were presented and will be published for public dissemination outside the Consortium.
